Familia Moreno – Computer to Fix Computers

Hello, My name is David Moreno, I am 23 years old and I live in Anaco, Anzoátegui State, Venezuela. I found out through a facebook group about the great work that Operation Family Freedom is doing for many Venezuelan families. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I had the opportunity to be a missionary and about 6 months ago I was sealed in the Caracas Temple with my wife, who also served a mission.

Like many families in Venezuela, our economic situation has not been easy and during the global pandemic, it has been even more difficult. However, we have decided to stay in the country and do what we can to help our country and get ahead. I had the opportunity to do a course on cell phone and computer repair and I have dedicated myself to that at the same time that I finish my studies to be an accountant.

Currently, the work repairing cell phones has decreased a lot due to the situation and the lack of some essential equipment, especially a computer and spare parts, which I cannot afford. My wife and I have tried doing some freelance work, but the lack of computer equipment has limited our chances of getting ahead.

These are really my only sources of income, so I applied for a grant to see if Operation Family Freedome could help us in this difficult situation that we are going through. We want to continue to undertake and find a way to emerge to have how to buy our food and basic supplies and later be able to help others.

Enclosed are some photos of my little cell phone workshop at home and a photo with my beloved wife.

As part of the Grant process, we would like to share some additional information about ourselves.

1. We have sought help from our relatives, some have helped us a little, but their current situation does not allow them to help us more. We have also sought help through the community, but our attempts have failed due to the situation we live in Venezuela, we have also received some temporary food aid through the church.

2. We have sought after this grant in order to more effectively work from home. It will also help me to carry out work repairing cell phones that need this tool in the software part and I will be able to use it for a long time, in short, this help will allow us to increase our income. We previously carried out these jobs with a borrowed computer, but unfortunately we no longer have it and that is why it has been very difficult to continue.

3. What we need to achieve these goals and achieve self-sufficiency is a computer on which my wife and I can develop these jobs. This would be a tool that would propel us in an incredible way. Currently, a mid-range computer in the place where I live is between $ 200 to $ 220

Familia Moreno was awarded a small grant of less than $300. With this grant they were able to purchase a computer and equipment needed to fix cell phones and obtain reliable internet in their apartment. After receiving the grant, they sent a short video and several photos expressing their gratitude. We will translate the video in time to come.
