Escape is the only option

I could say that one of the most painful things about socialism is it has brought the Venezuelan the need to emigrate in search of something better.  It’s really hard to have to abandon your family and friends, set aside your customs and traditions, change your ideas, and adapt to another culture.

The greatest need of everyone in Venezuela is a job.   Even the best professionals have no opportunity to work.  Prices increase every day and your salary is worth less and less, the fear of getting sick and not having money to buy medicines, constant insecurity, terrible public services that make life difficult, but most of all there does not appear to be any hope of change.

Many have had no choice but to escape this horrible monster and head out to the unknown.  Most emigrate without knowing what awaits because we know that any place will be better than what remains of our country.

Even as going abroad may be the best option to help family members who still live in the country and also represents the beginning of a new life, with new opportunities and better options. However, many face abuse, exploitation, and racism.

Perhaps we deserve our fate, but I invite you to ask yourself the question, aren’t those in the United States making similar choices as they decide it is better to take government handouts over working hard. Next time you see a Venezuelan, take the time to offer encouragement or a helping hand because it may be you next.

Please pass this message along to someone who thinks life is better at the teat of government.
