We received our award
It is inspiring to know the history of so many Venezuelans who face the most difficult situations every day. From my perspective, they are the most resilient beings in the world, because they know how to cross the most tortuous paths and keep their faith intact.
That has a lot to do with the presence of the Savior in their lives and their eternal commitment to follow Him. I particularly think that Jesus Christ occupies a fundamental place in the faith of Venezuelans, for that reason they have managed to get ahead despite the tragedies that have plagued them for many years.
I love the story of the Díaz family, a loving father who after losing his job has developed many skills that he never thought he would have, but he assures that it is all due to the importance of Jesus Christ in his life.
After losing their jobs, the Díaz family began to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to move forward and not fall prey to uncertainty. They knew that the only source of hope, peace, and strength was putting Jesus Christ first. They certainly did not stop trusting in his divine potential and began looking everywhere for him.
The hardest way
Although they knew they would find something to do, they thought about the long road they had to travel hand in hand with the Savior. That was their aim, to stand firm in their testimony and allow Christ to accompany them during challenges. They were very clear that very tough trials awaited them, but they were always sure.
Brother Diaz worked as a bricklayer’s assistant, a salesman, a delivery man and even a waiter, but his income was always insufficient and it was increasingly difficult to support his family due to the onslaught of inflation.
It is impressive to see how the brother left his house so early and returned until very late at night. Every day the same task without having the opportunity to share with his children and his wife. But the situation made him reflect and begin to exercise more his faith for the Lord Jesus Christ. They had the Lord at the center of their life.
After a few months of hard work, his wife started making meals to sell, while the children delivered to their homes. That idea was a light on the way, because they never thought that it would become their main source of income and that together they had built a family business.
They joined forces and began to improve their dishes, in addition to offering a more punctual service in deliveries. So all the neighbors already knew the Díaz family as the cooks of the neighborhood. Little by little they were growing in their business and they were enthusiastic. But something that was not expected emerged, the pandemic. That ordeal that many have faced, but which in the case of Venezuela was a calamity that added to the crisis.
Testing your faith
The Díaz family was forced to paralyze their business, they even lost a lot of food and felt that they were in the abyss again. All his efforts to build a family business were now under threat. Once again the family was in the worst difficulty, a father and a mother without work and the loss of resources they had obtained to progress economically.
The first leap of faith was made by Sister Díaz when she remembered that if she continued to put Jesus Christ at the center of her life, she could get out of that situation again. They remembered that being together was essential and that they could think of other alternatives to progress.
After many prayers and seeking guidance and inspiration, they decided to go back to business. That meant starting from scratch again because they had lost everything in the wake of the pandemic. Being locked up without being able to work forced them to sell many things that they had acquired with great effort.
After discouragement and doubt, they began to see new ways of continuing to make their meals and offer home delivery with all biosecurity measures. So everyone did their part in food preparation, packaging, and delivery.
Once again they were encouraged in their business. They looked for new ways to reach more people and with an act of service in their community they found the ideal setting to help others. This initiative was the example that he was putting Jesus Christ in There was much more to do, because the hunger situation is terrible in Venezuela, but with this seed much could be achieved.
The entire Díaz family maintains a home-cooked food business and can help others through their work. Continue to bless the lives of others by lovingly serving and being exemplary neighbors.
Jesus Christ is the way
Perhaps many wonder why think of others if all Venezuelans are going through the same difficulties. But I think that one of the most important things that the legacy of Jesus Christ has left us is helping the poor and the needy, that is the essence of our life. Only after placing it at the center of our lives will we receive our award.
Without a doubt, the Díaz family learned to be resilient, to get up after every stumble, to trust El Salvador and its power to lead their lives. Although they felt poor and needy, they never stopped thinking about others. It was a test of faith that they had to experience in order to be better disciples of Jesus Christ.
Now they are better prepared to continue living in a country in crisis, because they understood that they were an instrument in Heavenly Father’s hands to help others. They had to experience trials, but above all the opportunity to be faithful to Jesus Christ.
Brother Diaz relates that he never stopped laying the foundation of his home on the gospel of Jesus Christ. He knew that it was the only way to endure the hardships that all Venezuelans are going through and although some are more resilient than others, we are here to serve in everything the Lord sends us.
