Anna and I have been in contact with David several times over the past several weeks. Anna was able to get a better idea of what was going on with Davids wife, and some of the medical challenges that she has been having. She has been going into labor even though she is only 29 weeks along. So far David has been able to get some treatments for his wife which has stalled the labor and helped the baby’s lungs develop. As part of our due diligence, we requested that David provide some details on various options for treatment. David outlined a few options that he has for helping his pregnant wife. One option was a private clinic. The costs associated with this were far less than anything here in the United States, but they were still 5 times more than the other option. The other option is that they do have “free” healthcare if they go to the hospital. However, they have to purchase all supplies (literally including lightbulbs on some occasions). We were able to identify how we might be able to facilitate some of the efforts to obtain the needed supplies for her surgery when the baby is born.
Unfortunately, we were unable to raise sufficient donations to cover all the supplies. Just after we identified the best way to contribute to his efforts, the effects of the Coronavirus on our daily lives began to unroll. Given our current status, we will not have sufficient to help with all his supplies. It is currently unknown if we will be able to get any resources into David with the state of the quarantine, but we have offered to provide some assistance with a small portion of the supplies.
David has expressed great faith and is praying that things will go well for his wife and the child they have been waiting for over thirteen years. If there are other donations, we will evaluate the status of things at that time and try to get him more assistance if possible.
Consider donating if you have the ability. Thanks again to everyone that was able to contribute and help these families during this difficult time in the World. We will continue to pray for them and will provide updates if anything relevant changes.
