Gift Baskets for Fathers Day
Familia Emiliano moved from Venezuela to Colombia a few years ago in an effort to start a new life. Unfortunately, the benefits were not seen right away, and they have struggled to find a place where they can grow and flourish. After several attempts in different cities within Colombia they made another move where they might be able to find work. The job market had been devastated by COVID, and Familia Emiliano found themselves in a bad spot. They found a niche market where they could sell gift baskets but lacked the resources for the cost of goods. Operation Family Freedom was able to facilitate their efforts and get them started. They were able to build and then resell multiple gift baskets during Father’s Day. This served as an emergency grant that they were able to double through hard work and ingenuity. This Emergency Grant for a small business effort helped the family get through a few months until they were able to get more established and find work to become more self-reliant.
Familia Emiliano expressed deep appreciation for the donations that made it possible for them to feed their family during this critical and very scary time.
* Over the years (currently and before the official formation of Operation Family Freedom) we had a myriad of experiences in working with families from Venezuela that have encouraged us to protect the families’ privacy as best we can. Extreme poverty in conjunction with the role that social media plays in each of our lives has created a situation in which we believe it is in the families’ best interest that we change the names even when it may not be a big concern. For this reason, we have changed this family’s name.
