Familia G Rondon – $60 Emergency Relief Grant
*Gabriel, contacted us in desperation. He explained that living in Venezuela is beyond challenging. He wanted to work, but did not have a job. Gabriel explained that his family does receive some help from government bonds, but it is not much. The government bonds are just enough for 2 days of food and usually, this government help only comes once a month if they are lucky. Familia G Rondon goes many days without food sometimes, and they are often hungry. When they are lucky they can find some wild mangos to help supplement their food supply. Gabriel explained that he is very frustrated because he is unable to provide for his family.
Familia G Rondon has received some help from his church, but due to the extensive need in his area, it is not possible for the church to help everyone.
Gabriel builds houses by trade and has some of the tools needed, but due to COVID-19 things are even more difficult. With the tools, he indicated he can continue to build, but he didn’t have any materials and was asking for materials to start building.
At the time that Gabriel contacted Operation Family Freedom, there were no resources to help. Operation Family Freedom informed him that he and his family would be placed on a waiting list. Familia G Rondon patiently waited several weeks. After several weeks the situation for the family became so bad that the children were literally starving to death. He asked for any help possible. Unfortunately, the resources were still very low and the ability to orchestrate any kind of assistance for building materials was not possible. In order to help prevent the family from starving, Operation Family Freedom offered a one-time relief grant in which $60 was sent to Familia G Randon so that he could provide food for his family and hold back some of the dire urgent needs that they had. Because of the current situation, and the inability to determine if, or when, more resources would be available Familia G Rondon decided to take the Grant as opposed to waiting for assistance with obtaining building materials, which would have taken more time or may not have come at all.
This one time $60 Grant did help the family avoid some very desperate situations, and provided additional time for them to find other ways to help pay the bills and put food on the table. Gabriel contacted us several months later (recently) and reported that he had found work. Although he was not working for himself, as he had originally hoped to do with the Grant, he was now able to provide a little more for his family by working for someone else. immense gratitude was expressed for the donation he and his family received at a time when they were very desperate. We continue to pray for Gabriel and his family as they strive to better their situation.
